A case of Congenital Hyperextension Deformity with Anterior Subluxation of the Knee

Abstract
Congenital hyperextension deformity of the knee has been reported rarely by many authors since first description of Chatelaine in 1822.
The etiology of this deformity is still uncertain, but various intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as heredity, intrauterine malposition, fibrous contracture of quadriceps femoris muscles, aplasia or hypoplasia of cruciate ligaments and volar displacement of hamstrings etc. are suspected.
Most of them especially within 3 months after birth can be treated with conservative treatment.
We experienced one case of congenital hyperextension deformity of the right knee and treated with manipulation and serial plaster immobilization for 2 months. Follow-up at 28 months revealed no evidence of the deformity or disability.
